Wet Rock
Just to stretch our legs early in the year, we took a short afternoon hike to Red Rock Canyon. We wanted to see something of the new connector trail that had been recently publicized. The trail crosses most of the major trails in the canyon area so that you can get from one to another without retracing the entire out and back trail and then walking or driving to the next trailhead.
We took the Pine Creek trail in as far as the connector trail and then turned onto it going as far as the Oak Creek trail. Because of the direction of travel, there are a lot of short up and down stretches. You are crossing out of the entrance form one canyon to the next. This allowed a good bit of exercise in a short distance. The trail is well marked and fulfilled its function of connecting the trails admirably. The biggest surprise along the trail was that there were a number of wildflowers blooming early in the year (late February/early March. That was surprising because we had not had a particularly we fall or winter.
