2005 San Diego Midnight Madness

a.k.a. "the what would you do if your wife became disabled" ride

Fifth year in a row Meredith was able to go on the ride, but for this year I made a tricycle. No sign so nobody recognized us like last year. I don't think anybody knew she's quadraplegic either. Oh well, maybe 2006? Saw very few people from previous years. This year we entered the "contest", they only had one, wasn't seperated by lights and costumes like previous years (started an hour later than what was published too...)

Please help end the devastating effects of Multiple Sclerosis. Visit the Official MS 150 website (hosted by Kintera) to pledge me online or send a check by September 20th, we have to turn in the money before the ride!

Hanging out waiting for the ride to start. Ron (of MS-150 fame), Heather and Mark had the three numbers in front of us. Shawn (also of MS-150 fame) and Maddie passed us twice. Tony (roped into this year's MS-150) was a huge help - although I made it up the hills all by myself this year!

Bobby had a monkey mask and cymbals, music and everything! I shouldn't have painted the tricycle - it looked so good that nobody knew that I made it!

That's right, I made this tricycle and trailer. Check here for photos

Live dog. Barks on command. How do you top that?

Marge and Homer won the costume contest, but didn't do the ride in the jalopy they had for the contest - D'oh!

Team Zumwalt had a lot of riders there. It's all about the wheelie!

They had fun, fighting fires.

Hard to tell in this photo, but the bike is upside down so he could work on it before the ride.

The bubble blowing bear from 2001, looks like the same shorts even.

One of many lingerie wearing riders.

That's flashlight man next to Dave Scott. Check out the 2003 and 2004 page for photos of this guy's bike and what it could do. By far the brightest light ever at Midnight Madness.

They rode together.

A real (heavy) scuba tank. Check out the flippers on the pedals.

Really cool broom. I think she won something too.

After the ride. Doesn't look like they even worked up a sweat.

Nice bathrobe.

It was a warm evening.

Phantom of the Midnight Madness "anywhere you go let me go too..."

The yellow box is the battery. If you look closely, you can see the judges have their eyes closed.

The shiny chrome wheels must have made them dizzy!

The real winner of Midnight Madness. Maybe next year he'll pedal something...
