The Sign was a surprise. Thank you everyone for wishing Meredith a happy birthday. And for those of you who sang Happy birthday as you rode by, it really wasn't necessary...
First photo of the evening, they asked me to take their picture, so I did. Then I took one of my own.
The obligatory scantilly clad rider photo. There were at least 3 guys in speedos and helmets too. Yuck...
You just don't see enough tutus on the road, downtown, around midnight, on a bicycle.
Highwheeler. His friend came all the way from Fresno?
Flashlight Man! and his son-in-law. The trailer has a Honda generator for all the lights.
Midnight Shadow (A.K.A. Witch from 2005 - won the costume contest then)
The Amazing Carnac
I've got a grey hair jersey on order. Hasn't come in yet...
These 8 people won the best costume contest, 2 tickets on American Airlines.
Awesome! This guy made this thing for Midnight Madness (sound familiar?) PVC - probably easier to work with than steel, won't rust, and lots lighter. I started making a beach wheelchair like this once - and quickly gave up when I found a converstion kit online (the huge wheels are the key to rolling success in the sand).
OK - NOT a rabbit! I got the whole story about how this is left over from a fetish costume party, the other half didn't wear his kilt to the bike ride.
Do these folks work for CALTRANS?
..the rest of the group, cool bikes!
Jack Sparrow and his first (but hopefully not last) mate.
Bobby playing where's Waldo with tuxedo jersey man and his hypnotic friend.
9 years old! Mom and Dad were there too...
Very nice rig. Car battery in the box over the rear wheel (not the safest thing). Lots of lights, a very loud siren and air horns. I want to ride with you guys!!
Uncle Sam and a masked man
Dude, she could totally take you!
I warned you this would go on the internet (call me...)
Hula girl in the costume contest. She might have been 9 also?
No, not a gratuitous leg shot, this woman works at a bike store. Those are SPD compatible pumps! She wears biking clothes to work, so she wears working clothes to bike. Makes perfect sense to me.
...apparently just turned 50
Matching P.J.s
Great setup! (except the dogs are fake)
Now this looks like a fun couple!
These guys weren't too sure about me posting their photo...
Family of the "King" of midnight madness from last year.
Woo Hoo!! Fire!!
Looks like the stay puffed marsmallow man - toasted to perfection...
Airplane woman and her sidekick, the Velocity Cheerleader (OK, I made all that up, but it works...)
Party on wheels
They put helmets on later.
What can I say?
Another "regular" at Midnight Madness. Looks like he traded the bear blowing bubbles for a dog (the only one we saw).
