* Albert Goodrich (Grace Frohock's husband) wrote about Chester......About Chester's camp. It was near one of the Brookfields SWof Worcester. I remember my mother saying it was on Lake Lashaway but I never found it on the map. I suspect the lake has an Indian name. The last time I was there was September 1938 right after the hurricane. The cottage was not damaged but the area was a disaster. I have no picture other than the one you have of the gathering which was traditionally on July 4th. One big attraction was the single cylinder motor boat which shows just off to the right of the gathering.
Chester lived in Paxton on a lot he won at a movie. He built his own house. I last visited in 1938 or 1939. I looked for it around 1968 when I was working in Gardner, MA and think I found it
When we visited there in the 30's I was always delighted when Chester brought out his WW1 memorabilia. I believe he was the first auto mechanic in Worcester and had his own garage. He was an airplane mechanic overseas during the war. He was very interested in photography and processed his own film. During the war he made a model of a bi-plane of polished brass. One summer when I visited there for lunch he suspended the model on a clothesline between two pulleys and used an old clock motor to move the plane. (Picture taken at Chester's camp is below)
