Germany? Could it be possible that the Frohock name is actually German in origin? I received a letter from John Robert Black which indicates the following: I live in Newburgh (a suburb of Evansville) Indiana. My name is John Robert (Bob) Black (age 69) and I am a descendent of the Frohocks of Gallatin County, IL. My Grandfather Thomas Frohock came from TN and settled in IL about 1870. His family came from North Carolina and previous generations came from Cambridgeshire, UK via Bristol, PA My mother Nigel Frohock Black (90) is the oldest living Frohock who migrated to Illinois. I am sure that there was only one Frohock(Frohawk, etc)family in the UK many years ago. My mother has always been firm that the Frohocks came from Germany because her father told her so. When I traced the line back to the UK existing many centuries ago, she was doubtful. Well, I recently saw an advertisement for a coat of arms for the Frohock Family and the origin of the coat of arms was POLAND. Well we know that the border between Poland and Germany has not been a constant. In fact, Germany is a relatively new name. Before that it was Prussia and before that..etc. It is all possible that the Frohocks did come from there. Perhaps Nigel was correct. Technically, though, there was no Germany when the Frohocks were there. Oh, yes, I am not saying that the Frohocks did come from there --just that I saw the advertisement for the coat of arms.
