Not a blog! My postings are too erratic for that. Not an authority on anything! Just a variety of things that interest me and, I hope, you too!
The band's next concert dates are Sunday, March 8th and again on Wednesday, March 11th. Our founding director, Dr. Charles Sessions, retired last spring as the band celebrated it's 30th anniversary. Our new conductor is Dr. Christopher Hewlett who has risen from the ranks, so to speak. Read all about him in the band section. Our first concert this year was a Salute to the British Isles and then we had our annual holiday concert. I will post the music for the next concert shortly (I'm working on it) but in the meantime you can take a look at what we played in December. If you are in the neighborhood (Scottsdale, AZ), we'd love to have you attend. Our concerts are always FREE.
Six years ago I began knitting again after a 25 year hiatus and I think I'm trying to make up for all those "wasted" evenings when I watched TV without doing something with my hands. Besides kinitting for myself I have 3 grandkids to knit for as well as their parents and I also make a variety of things for various charities. I've also been making samples for a new yarn store in town and doing finishing work for those who hate to sew the parts together. Take a look at my creations. Some have actually won blue ribbons at the Arizona State Fair :-) and others are donated when they don't turn out as intended :-(
My kitty kid Zeena is doing just fine at approximately 13 years of age although she does like her sleep, but I had to say farewell to my sweet buddy Nicky who developed an inoperable tumor this summer. Then 3 months ago I adopted (from a shelter, of course) a new fur brat who was 6 months old, and I finally figured out his name. It's Lucifer! He's a real devil! He's already knocked over the piano bench 5 times and table lamps, as of today, 9 times. I will make no mention of the assorted things he's broken (no lamps.) Zeena is no longer hiding on the shelf in my bedroom closet and they will eat and nap side by side, but there is still a lot of hissing going on. He just wants to play, play, play!
