FUTURAMA COMICS #17
Futurama Comics 17
TITLE
The Time Bender Trilogy; Part One
STORY SYNOPSIS
Here we go kiddies! After a great set-up last issue for the Time Bender Trilogy it gets under way full force this issue. When last we left our heroes they had just returned back from Cubert's new school after the planet it was on was consumed by its star. After looking around and unsuccessfully finding any other beings on planet Earth things go from bad to worse as L'rr and Nd'Nd land to claim planet Earth in the name of Omicron Persei 8. Since the planet is uninhabited they feel they can claim the planet rightfully. However, there is a loop hole in which L'rrr confesses that it would take 100 occupants to consider the planet not to be uninhabited. Fry, Leela and Bender search for ways to meet this quota and in doing so Cubert comes across a mechanism from Professor Farnsworth when activated opens a time portal.
It is later learned that all of Planet Express (and all of Earth) have all went through the time portal when one of Farnsworth's experiments with chronitons went haywire. He needs Cubert and the rest to use the remaining 3 pieces of his time machine (he has the fourth) to come and rescue them from the past and bring them to the future where they belong. Later Fry, Leela and Bender fool the Omicronians into thinking there are actually 100 people on Earth and so they leave without claiming the planet.
They are now free to go back in time to save the Professor and the rest but a problem has occured. The time portal has split into three separate portals. Fry, Leela and Bender are each pulled through separate portals and sent through time. Each has a piece of the time mechanism so somehow I would assume the plot revolves around them pulling the pieces back together again to save the day.
A great story to kick off this first part of the Trilogy. There were some really cool moments in this issue especially once the Omicronians got involved. I must say also that I think it is very cool that Cubert has been so involved in this story from the get go. I hope to see more of him later in the story as well as seeing him on his own with Dwight. The two together are ripe for either a side story in Futurama Comics (perhaps a flip book like the Simpsons Comics used to do way back when) or to hold a story all on their own. Who knows what awaits us around the corner.
Email Bongo Comics and let them know what you think of this issue and to let them know how great Futurama Comics is.

TITLE
The Time Bender Trilogy; Part Two
STORY SYNOPSIS
When last we left our heroes they were the last sentient beings on planet Earth. The entire population of Earth is back in prehistoric times and after dispatching the Omicronian Menace, Fry, Leela and Bender are fiddling around with the remaining three parts of Farnsworth's time machine when they are hurled through time separately. Leela to ancient Greece, Fry to the 1920's and Bender to the time of the Salem Witch Trials. Let's check in, shall we?
Leela finds herself in Ancient Greece where she meets up briefly with Achilles and then the poet Homer who is about to sacrifice some cats to the Gods. Homer suggests she ask the Gods for help in getting her back home but before she can she frees the kittens that Homer was going to use as a sacrifice to the Gods which enrages them. The messenger Hermes is sent down to deal with Leela and steals her piece of the time machine and takes it up to Mt. Olympus. Leela, needing the piece back begins her trek up Mt. Olympus where she meets the Minotaur guarding the path. She uses a lot of brains a little bit of brawn to defeat him and make it to the top where Zeus then condemns her to the realm of the dead in Hades. Bender finds himself in Salem in the middle of a robot hunt. Seems when they ran out of witches to burn they turned their attention towards robots but the only tests they have to find out if somebody is a robot was written by robots so the tests are skewed and they are persecuting people instead of robots. Since Bender's best friend is a robot he cannot stand by and see an innocent human be presecuted so he confesses that he and his companion Samantha are actually robots at which point the pilgrims tie them both to the stake and begin to burn them.
Fry finds himself in the 1920's in the middle of what he believes is World War I but with the disruption in the time continuum they are actually fighting Worlds War I. Since Farnsworth has gone back in time and brought all of the futures technology to the past the Earth has evolved much quicker than it would have. Other alien races feared that the Earth was moving too fast as well and so they started the Worlds War. During the fighting, Fry exudes bravery which lands him the spot of taking on a suicide mission.
Part two of the trilogy really set some stuff up and juggled not only the three main character stories really well but also that of Cubert, who didn't really have much to do but you never forgot about him. All three characters had fun stories in their own little time warp and once again the issue ended with a bit of a cliffhanger. Great issue to move the story along.
