TOY FARE 2002 SPECIAL REPORT
Member Blueduck3000 from the Futurama Foundation was nice enough to donate some pictures and information from his visit to Toy Fare all this week. I will keep this special section up here for all the latest news and more importantly - pictures! Be sure to visit both the Futurama Foundation as well as the Simpsons Collector Sector for all the latest news about these two properties. Especially check out the Simpsons Collector Sector for new pictures and a special interview with Playmates Toys on the future of their World of Springfield action figure line.

HG Blob From Dark Horse Comics
He's squishy, gooey and rubbery on the outside. The HG Blob from Dark Horse Comics was on display at the Diamond Comics booth. Scheduled to be released at the end of February this gooey little toy will come with different figures floating around inside. Pictured here is a floating Fry while others will include Farnsworth and Leela inside. These have a price tag of 9.99 and are sure to be a big seller.
According to a previous interview with Dark Horse Comics, the figures are said to move freely within the gooey mass of the blob. No word yet on wether or not the figures inside will have articulation or not or what the packaging on these will look like but expect a diamond cut box with an open window so that you can touch it.
Go to Larger Size Picture
Here is the HG Blob packaging pics. Looks like the standard Futurama retro packaging with the cut out in the front that displays the figure perfectly. Be sure to check out the large scale version of this pic for a better look at him. Cannot tell from this picture who is in the blob but when you buy him you should be able to see who is inside.

RocketUSA Assorted Stuff

Here is a great picture of RocketUSA's booth at Toy Fare. What a great display of all of their products. You can really see the conitinuity in everything they have produced for Futurama.

RocketUSA, the makers of such fine Futurama merchandise as the wind-up Benders, Nibbler, metal figures, clickers and tins signs showed up with a prototype of their highly anticipated URL walking tin figure. Also on display was the package for URL which hasn't deviated much from their previous releases as it is very similar to the Bender and Nibbler Wind-ups.

Here is the first look at the motion clickers. An item that I am really intrigued by and they look like alot of fun. Much like the already released clickers, the motion clickers will make that distinct clicking sound that we all know and love but will also have movement involved. The three announced and soon to be released motion clickers will feature Bender with cigar and beer, the Robot Devil with violin and Nibbler. Watch Bender take a drink and puff when you click him. The Robot Devil will pull his bow and Nibbler I believe will move his mouth and eyes. Can't wait to get these in my hands and take them for a test spin!

Just added is pictures of the motion clickers out of package. These look alot bigger than I thought they would be. It will be interesting to see how the motion is activated as they are so big. Since these are made of metal they should last for a long time. With the moving parts and clicker action that is a good thing as I am sure these will be popular items.

So far nothing new and things we have all been expecting. The surprise of the show is the new Zapp Brannigan Space Gun! Matt Groening had mentioned that their would be space guns back when Futurama first started and now it has finally become a reality! Although just a prototype picture the colored mock up looks fantastic! The package pictures looks really colorful and is another fine job by RocketUSA. I would expect the space gun to be some type of spark gun when you pull the trigger it would make a spark and sound in the body of the gun.

Rix Tins

Also on hand was Rix Tins showing off some of there upcoming Futurama merchandise. Here is another picture of the new tin coasters and tin holder. These will be fun companions to Rix Tins Simpsons coasters. Other products announced from Rix Tins are playing cards in tin, playing cards in Slurm can and a waste basket. I for one can't wait for the waste basket.
