2001 - Futurama VCD 27.00-31.00
2001 - Futurama VCD
27.00-31.00
This 6 CD set contains the entire first season of Futurama as well
as the first 4 episodes of season 2. The quality is actually pretty good
but don't expect extra features of any kind on these. They play both on
DVD and the Windows Media Player which is a plus and have decent resolution.
It breaks down a little at full screen viewing but even if you run it at
the default window size you get a good picture. The fact that these can
be played on your TV DVD player is a really big plus unlike the Region
2 DVD's that are currently out. This is the only major improvement over
the DVD's and if you have the means and a player to play them on I would
recommend the DVD's all the way.
The sound quality on these is very good as well, although I am not
an expert on the latest technology nor can I tell the difference between
'quality' sound and something that sounds good.
One of the things that I like about these VCD's is that the entire
end credits for every episode is included. I like to see the guest stars
and names of other voice actors who appeared on the show. That and the
end credit theme sounds really cool as well! The Fox logo is also missing
from these that is apparent on other sources of Futurama episodes that
are available in other digital formats.
It will be interesting to see if more of these VCD's will be released
in the future especially now that the season 1 DVD's are on the horizon,
albeit only being released in the UK at the moment.
All in all if you want to save some disc space and want some quality
transfers this is not a bad deal. Plus there is some kooky graphics to
look at! |
