Hill Top Research offers assistance to families battling head lice

Hill Top Research today announced the launch of a summer-long campaign to provide free head lice screenings to the general public in the communities they serve.  Head lice is the number one cause of school absence among children from Kindergarten through high school, and these screenings are designed as a way to ensure a smooth start to the school year for children, parents, and school administrators.

“Our research indicates that millions of people are affected by head lice every year and the number of outbreaks is increasing,” explained Wendy Bullock, Director of Recruiting for Hill Top Research.  “Lice are not selective and know no season.  They are present in our community through Summer, Winter, Spring and Fall,” Ms. Bullock went on to add.

Hill Top Research is an independent clinical product testing company with offices throughout North America, and is providing the free head lice inspections to both children and adults in Arizona, New York, Ohio and Florida. 

“The first step in the treatment process is identifying that a problem exists,” explained Bullock. Having assisted with school head checks, Hill Top Research knows that school nurses are on the frontlines of head lice control.  Inspection and identification are keys to limiting infestation; just because school is out does not mean that parents should become less vigilant. The company plans to fill this summertime void by offering head checks free of charge.

“Growing resistance to head lice treatment effectiveness discourages parents and frustrates school officials,” notes Bullock. The research company has responded to this growing concern by taking part in several clinical trials to evaluate the effectiveness of experimental head lice treatments.

As an added benefit to the head lice screenings, families have the opportunity to take part in a research study.  These studies provide free lice treatment for families as well as compensation for time and travel. Specially-trained technicians work with the families to help resolve their lice issue.  As is standard in the industry, there is a “no-strings attached” approach and people are never obligated to take part in studies.
