Ok, here are some more shots of the engine compartment. Scroll down to see
completed pics. |
A front shot. The valve covers will be painted yellow too. I will install
the intake upper plenum when I'm done with the items around the firewall.
Stock? radiator and overflow tank are installed. |
A little better shot of the radiator. I took my stock radiator and replaced
the guts with a 4 core piece. The stock top and sides were retained except
for the spout. It was replaced to match the size of the engine outlets.
A new bottom pan was built which relocated the new larger outlet to the
pass side. |
A view from the engine side of the radiator. I used "Coolflex" radiator hoses
and fittings for the plumbing. An electric fan will be added later. |
This shows the upper and lower radiator hoses. I think there is ample room
between the engine and radiator for a fan. |
Another shot of the alternator location The custom bracket bolts where the
original lifting bracket was. Kinda hangs out there, but I couldn't figure
where else to put it. |
This shows the steering shaft. It is a 2 piece design that I "borrowed" from
Mark Sedlack's Roadster. Thanks again Mark. You can also see the
coated exhaust manifold under it. Swain Technologies handled that job for
me. I'm using the dual brake cylinder from Dean at Datsun Parts.com. |
This is taken looking forward. It shows the fairly clean underside of the car.
Notice the extra capacity of the oil pan on the driver's side.
Steve Handy took the deep sump off the pan and added this to make up for the lost
capacity. I took the idea from a VG30 pan on a Maxima, which is transverse
mounted but had the pod on the other side. |
The shifter had to be moved up some. You can see the old hole just aft of the
shifter. It doesn't seem to interfere with the center pedestal at all
and is still easy to reach in a comfortable driving position. The stick is
rubber isolated and should help some with any vibrations. I modified the trim
plate that goes against the center piece to match the hole. |
Here are some pics of the upper intake. Steve Handy, who also built the oil
pan, did the mod on this piece. The top and inside of the original restrictive
intake were removed and smoothed out. Then the new top was welded
on. I smoothed out the welds and polished the top. I'll be using a
larger throttle body with this intake. |
Here are some shots of the nearly completed engine compartment.I have to clean up
a few items and double check everything but it runs as it sits. |
