Here are a few closeups of the front end.  The springs are new lowered versions.  Competition sway bar, slotted rotors, KYB shocks, Volvo calipers, 12mm wheel studs and new uerethane boots for all of the joints round out this section.
I noticed in the picture to the right that the bumper bracket has been bent in.  I'll have to get it pulled out and straightened.  I'll also hit the inside sections of the frame with a good dose of anti-rust coating.
This is a latemodel steering box I picked up in a local junk yard.  I put new seals in it and replaced the nylon cap in the top and it was ready to go.  It is a straight bolt in except that the frame lip has to be trimmed back a bit as seen in the picture.  In the bottom pic, you can see the cutout I made for the VG30.  After I cut the opening,, I welded a heavy piece of angle iron across the width of the opening along the bottom of the crossbrace.  I then formed some sheetmetal pieces and welded them in to finish out the area.
Here is the Volvo caliper.  I went right off the info posted in the archives and various websites for this conversion.  The calipers I bought didn't have the pins and clips for pads, so I had to order a kit for that.  The lines are tight but they clear everything.  The rotors had the diameter lathed down but I didn't have them do enough.  I took a die grinder and smoothed out the area inside the caliper to keep the rotors from rubbing.  A new double master cylinder will handle these fine.
These wheels were on the '85 Z I purchased for the motor and tranny.  I polished this one up and like it alot.  I like the idea of having Z wheels on a Roadster.  The center caps on these hit the wheel cap behind it but they can be modified to fit ok.  Once the car is painted, I'll make the decision to use them or not.  A lot of polishing ahead if I do use them!.
