Gary's Paint and Body |
I started out easy with a repaint of my rollbar. I bought this years
ago and it was powder coated. It had been bumped around and left outside
and was looking beat up so I freshened it up. The light areas are from the
sun coming through the garage door. |
Next came a big step for me. Spraying primer is one thing..mess it up, no big
deal. Spraying color at hundreds of dollars a gallon adds a little pressure.
I prepped the back of the hood and deck lid, inside of the fenders
and the door jambs. Let the coloring begin! I chose the yellow of
the new F-250 and Mustang. The color is called "Screamin' Yellow".
The coolest thing is my wife let me put the fenders in the house since the garage
is packed! |
Ok, on to bigger things. The plan is to paint just enough in the garage to
get the body back on the frame and do the rest outside. I masked so I could
paint the front of the body except the front valance, the rear wheel well and
the bottom of the body aft of the rear wheels. I then masked over part
of the front section so I could paint the area just behind the grill black.
Crawling around and under this thing to get paint in every nook and cranny was
NOT fun!!! Again, I tip my hat to the pros that do this day in and day
out. . |
Here is the car up to the point of being sent to paint. I managed to paint
the interior and trunk. That left the exterior for Bob at R&B Collision in
Glendale, AZ. He painted his truck the same yellow a year or so ago. Should
be a lot of yellow when it comes home. UPDATE: Check out the next few
pages for followup pics!!!. |
