The passenger side was in pretty good shape. The standard door dings and wrinkles
in a few areas. I filled in the seam on the quarter panel because
I'm not going to use the metal trim and not sure that I'll use anything at all.
I used a pneumatic random orbital sander and a pneumatic long board sander
initially and then went to hand sanding with a long board to get it just right.
I use a 1-part glazing putty lastly to cover or "ice" the entire panel
down and come back and hand sand it with a long board to find any low or high
spots. Those highlighted areas are then corrected. |

Another area of this section getting attention is the rear door post. The stock
latch was removed from the door post and a cutout area was marked from the
patch plate supplied with the shaved door handle kit. The metal was cut
out and the new panel welded in and smoothed out. A solenoid will be mounted
behind this panel to actuate the new latches. The rear of each door has
been filled in with a simple striker installed, and there are no latch parts
in the door itself besides the actuator switch. |
