Saint Therese has
influenced and intervened in the lives of HIV+ men and women. One
young man whose opportunistic infections had taken control was not
expected to live through the night. He prayed to the Little Flower
for intercession. Not only did he survive through the night he lived
for two more years crediting Saint Therese with keeping him alive.
Members of Therese Martin’s family currently work at the Pasture
Institute in France. This is the Institute where the HIV virus was
discovered Hopefully through the research work of her family members
and prayers of intercession to Saint Therese, a cure for HIV may be
discovered Many HIV+ people continue to pray to Saint Therese as a
“patron saint of people who are HIV+” and many continue to credit
her with showering down blessings in their lives. Everywhere in the
lives of HIV+ people roses continue to fall.
The
Little Flower, as she is often called, Saint Therese of Lisieux
became a saint not by performing great miracles but by doing little
things with great love
—
putting up with frustrating
companions, obeying superiors, finishing the laundry. So ordinary
did she appear some of the sisters in her convent were unaware of
her remarkable prayer life until after her death.
“My
mission
— to make God loved— will
begin after my death, “she said “I will spend my heaven doing good
on earth. I will let fall a shower of roses.” Countless lives have
been touched by her intercession, and thousands have imitated her
“little way. “She has been acclaimed the “greatest saint of modern
times.”
