Mrs. Hugh Nelson Page,
organizing regent of the Great Bridge Chapter,
the sixth chapter organized in Virginia,
presented a gavel made from a tree that grew
on the Battlefield of Great Bridge
to the chapter in March, 1898.
The gavel has been in use ever since.
