Participant Information
Information for Potential Oral History Contributors
Our current focuses are on veterans of the Second World War and the Korean War. (We would jump on the chance to interview veterans of the First World War also). Any individual who was an active participant in the fighting and / or administration of these war efforts is welcome to contribute their oral history to the project. The oral histories we collect are videographic - so you can't be camera shy! We hope to develop a significant archive of veteran and civilian oral histories in broadcast quality video and audio. Thereafter, audio can be converted to text transcripts or simple audiotape transcripts permitting students, educators and researchers to access these stories in a variety of media formats.
Each participant will need to execute a release allowing the organization to use their contribution for educational and scholarly purposes. Our release forms closely match those developed for the Veterans' Oral History Project of the Library of Congress, in part, because we imagine that many of our contributions will eventually be duplicated there.
Each participant will receive a complimentary copy of their oral history contribution for their own or their family's use. Currently, this copy is available in VHS format. In short order, DVD compatible media will also be available.
If you or one of your friends or relatives would like to participate, feel free to contact Gregory D. Hocutt by mail at Mesa Community College, Life Science Department, 1833 W. Southern Avenue, Mesa, Arizona 85202 or (more efficiently) by email at hocutt@mail.mc.maricopa.edu.
Other Contributions of Interest
Our nonprofit organization is just forming and could benefit in numerous ways through volunteer activities, contributions of funds and equipment and contributions of war relics and memorabilia. If you have any interest in contributing time, funds, equipment or war relics and memorabilia, please contact Gregory D. Hocutt at hocutt@mail.mc.maricopa.edu.
