Types of Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is geared towards people with muscular pains, whether it be recurring headaches, tightness in the neck and/or shoulders and repetitive stress to muscles. The most common form of muscle dysfunction is a muscle spasm, which is the body’s response to protect an injured area from further harm. When we damage or injure a muscle,

scarred muscle tissue moves along the muscle belly and adheres to the tendons at the origin and insertion points of the muscle, creating a lack of flexibility. Deep Tissue Techniques serve to reduce and break down adhesions and fibrosis. Deep Tissue Massage stretches connective tissue.

Structural Organization - Kristi has 120 hours of Structural Organization. This is not the traditional ten series application, instead the massage is a generalized introductory to structural integration in conjunction with traditional deep tissue techniques. Structural integration works beyond releasing the muscle, the focus is on lengthening the deeper layers of connective tissue. The goal is to bring the body into proper organization, layer by layer, by allowing the "core" of the body to expand.

Thai Massage is a sort of assisted yoga in which Kristi uses her hands, knuckles, and elbows to manipulate you into a series of passive stretches in conjunction with deep tissue strokes. Though the technique differs greatly from what you'd experience during a classic rubdown, all of that gentle, steady pressure works wonders to improve flexibility, release toxins and unravel your gnarliest knots. When it's over, you'll feel really, really good - in a revved-up, high-on-life kind of way. The only thing to consider before booking your first appointment is this treatment tends to be "active" rather than relaxing, so you won't be stealing any zzz's. Most fans, however, consider this a small price to pay for the kind of deep-down stretch that hurts so good. Table Thai is performed on the massage table and Kristi adjusts to your level of flexibility and fitness.

Swedish massage is much more than a "back rub" or "the fluff treatment." Kristi uses strokes to precisely address tension patterns, tracing the length of the specific muscles to assess their tone and encouraging fresh circulation in areas where blood flow is constricted by tension. Excellent for relaxing and reducing stress.

Trigger Point therapy is a proven technique used for the relief of soft-tissue pain and dysfunction including pain from repetitive strain injuries (tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome), migraines, chronic low back pain, accident trauma, and sports injuries, as well as fibromyalgia (pain in muscles, ligaments, and tendons) and related conditions. This massage is geared to relieve chronic pain and promote a rapid return of mobility and function.

Sports Massage is designed for the athlete to keep them at top performance. This massage may include rolling, shaking, vibration and stretching of the muscle tissue. It speeds recovery time if there has been an injury and is great for pre or post athletic events. A massage within 24-48 hours following athletic events and marathons is recommended.
