Sir Francis Walter de Winton               1835-1901
Maj-Gen Sir Francis Walter de Winton, G.C.M.G., C.B., LL.D.
Sir Francis was born about 1835, the son of Walter de Winton and Julia Cecilia Collinson, at Pittsford, Northamptonshire. He was educated at the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, and in 1854 he entered the Royal Artillery. He took part in the Crimean campaign from January, 1855, including the siege and fall of Savastopol.
He was on staff as ADC to Sir William Fenwick Williams when Sir Williams was commanding the British North American Forces, and again was on his staff when Sir Williams served as Lt. Governor of Nova Scotia (1864-1867),
  and then again during Williams' appointment as Governor of Gibraltar.
From 1877 to 1878 he was Military Attache at Constantinople, and from 1878 to 1880, and again from 1880 to 1883 he was secretary to the Marquis of Lorne when Governor-General of Canada. In 1892, he was appointed controller and treasurer of the household of the late Duke of Clarence, and after the death of the Duke of Clarence he continued to act in the same capacity in the household of the Duke of York.

Evelyn Rawson                                     1846-1907
Evelyn was the daughter of Mr. Christopher Rawson.
She is a sister of Admiral Sir Harry Holdsworth Rawson and of the late Commander Wyatt Rawson, R.N.

OBITUARY
  LADY DE WINTON - widow of Major-General Sir Francis De Winton, late Comptroller and Treasurer of the household of the Prince of Wales, died yesterday morning at Hampton Court Palace.   Lady De Winton was the daughter of the late Mr. Christopher Rawson, and she married Sir Francis De Winton in 1864.   As a tribute to Lady De Winton a "Funeral March" was played at the service at the Chapel Royal, Hampton Court, yesterday.
