James Pace Thompson                           1861-1927
  James was born on 6 August 1861, the son of John Blair Thompson and Ann Morrison Pace, at Kaiapoi, Canterbury, New Zealand.   It would appear that while visiting Australia, he met and married Emma Jean Baker, who was also from New Zealand.   They first settled in Carlton, an inner suburb of Melbourne.   But then moved to Traralgon, in the Gippsland area, about 100 miles from Melbourne.   It was a dairy farming area at the time.
  They later moved back to New Zealand where their last child was born in 1901, and lived at various addresses in Parnel, Auckland.   James worked as a cabinet maker at Newmarket Railways Workshop.
Emma Jane Baker                                 1867-1927
Emma was born about 1867, the daughter of George Baker and Mary Jane Vincent, in New Zealand. She raised a family of 7 children. At least that is how many were still alive upon the death of Emma Jane in February 1927.
