Harold Douglas Briggs                    1877-1944
Harold was born on 29 September 1877, the son of Charles James Briggs and Sarah Ann Douglas, of Hylton Castle. He was a Lieutenent in the Royal Navy at the time of his marriage in 1902.
He was a Commander when he took flying lessons at Central Flying School, Uphaven, and earned his pilot's certificate on 26 November 1915, in a Maurice Farman Biplane. He is pictured here, on that date, as he become a member of the Royal Aero Club. In 1916 he served in the Inspection of Training of the Royal Navy Air Service, then Commander of the base of the Royal Navy Air Service, Vendome. In 1918 he served on a tempory basis as a Brigadier General in The R.A.F., then returned to the Royal Navy with the rank of Captain.
Mabel Thompson                             1876-
Mabel was born 24 Mar 1876 of Robert Thompson and Lillias Scott Simpson, at Sunderland. She married Harold Douglas Briggs on 23 August 1902.
I have not searched for children.
