The marriage took place at All Saints', Hurworth-on-Tees, yesterday, of Major H. K. D. Evans, late 4th Hussars, of Silton Hall, Thirsk, third son of the late Mr. David Evans,of Ffrwdgrech, Brecon, and Mrs. Evans, of Poynings, Uffculme, Devon, and Miss Nancy Thompson, only child of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Thompson, of Sockburn Hall, Darlington. Canon R. V. G. Shaw officiated, assisted by the Rev. A. T. Faber and the Rev. E. H. Greaterex. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of parchment satin beauté. Her veil of parchment net, bordered with old Brussels point lace, was held in place by a headdress of seed pearls, with clusters of orange-blossom at each side. She carried a French posy of lillies of the valley, and wore a diamond fox brooch. |
Her train was of parchment satin beauté, flounced with old Brussels point lace, and was carried by Master Bobby Evans and by Master Bobby Morrison.
They wore suits of powder-blue panne velvet with ruffles of chiffon at the neck and wrist.
There four little bridesmaids - Miss Fleur Stack, Miss Georgina Short, Miss Emily Scarth, and Miss Susan Stancliffe.
Their frocks were of net frills, picot-edged with silver, over powder-blue satin.
They wore blue satin shoes and wreaths of tiny blue and pink flowers and carried Victorian posies.
Captain F. G. B. Stephens was best man.
A reception was held afterwards at Sockburn Hall. The honeymoon is being spent in Egypt. The bride's going-away dress was of Bordeauxred fine silk rap with a red and beige cloth coat, collared with beige fox, and a red felt hat to match. |
