Joseph Lowes Thompson 1886-1929 Joseph Lowes was born 3 July 1886 in Fulwell, of Charles Elliot Thompson and Mary Jane Kish. He married Mildred Adamson on 5 January 1910. He was a shipowner, and during WW1, a Captain of 2/5th West Yorkshire Regiment. They moved to New York, USA, in 1922, and resided at 8 Field Court, in the Town of Bronxville, in the Village of Mamaroneck, Westchester County, New York. He died on 27 June 1929, just six days short of his 43rd birthday. Cause of death was a heart attack. His occupation was listed as Christian Science Practitioner. After his death, Mildred and the children, except for one of the twins, who had already married, returned to England.

| 5 January 1910 Joseph Lowes Thompson Married Mildred Adamson 1910 1Q Sunderland 10a 1009 The marriage took place this afternoon at St. George's Presbyterian Church of Mr. Joseph Lowes Thompson, 2nd son of Mr. Charles E. Thompson, shipowner and chairman of the Sunderland Rural District Council, and Miss Mildred Adamson, daughter of Mr. John Adamson, shipowner of Westburn. The minister officiating was the Rev. A. Wylie Blue, and the bride was given away by her father, the bridesmaids being Misses Edith and Theo Adamson (sisters of the bride), and Miss Mail (cousin). Mr. Claud Bulmer was the best man. After the ceremony, a reception was held at Westburn, and during the day, the newly wedded pair commenced their wedding tour, which is to be spent on the Continent. They have been the recipients of a very large number of handsome presents. The wedding cake was made by Mr. Edward Binns, Fawcett Street. |

The immigration manifest stated they were visiting Joseph's brother, Allan Robert Thompson, at Bronxville Road, Bronxville, Westchester County, New York.
