Farrell Lines to Africa
Farrell Lines operated two combo ships (African Endeavor and African Enterprise) from New York to African ports including Capetown, Port Elizabeth, Durban and Beira during the 1950s. Each ship had accommodations for 82 passengers. These ships were originally modified C-3 freighters built for Delta Lines and converted to troop ships in World War II. They were taken over by Farrell Lines, after the war, and refurbished. The ships had spacious cabins, a luxurious dining room swimming pools and other amenities. The dining rooms were decorated with African art.
