Vision information:
Here are some interesting facts about vision.
- Area of sharpest vision is 1.5 degrees around center.
- Area of clear vision is 15 degrees around center.
- Area of total vision is 35 degrees.
Medical terms:
Medical abbreviations are quite often used in medical records. Here
are a few meanings that I have found.
Vision terms:
- OS = Left eye (Oculus Sinister)
- OD = Right eye (Oculus Dexter)
- OU = Both/each eye (Oculus Uterque)
- VA = Visual Acuity
- VC = Vision Correction
- VF = Visual Field

- HGN = Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus
- VGN = Vertical Gaze Nystagmus

- ##/## = Vision rating
- REM = Rapid Eye Movement
Note: During traffic stops, police officers commonly use HGN and VGN
(as well as resting Nystagmus) tests for indications of alcohol or drug
influence.
Medical terms:
- Dx = Diagnosis
- Pt = Patient
- Sx = Symptom(s)
- Tx = Treatment

- ICD = International Classification of Diseases codes
Note: CPT and ICD codes are used on medical records as a standard form
of identifying a patients condition or treatment. CPT codes are managed
and copyrighted by the American Medical Association. ICD codes are
managed and copyrighted by the National Center for Health Statistics.
Medications:
- BTC = Behind the counter (prescription)
- OTC = Over the counter (non prescription)
- X = Multiply by (either quantity or size)
