TriFoiler
By Greg Ketterman
TriFoiler is hydrofoil triamaran sailboat that began with a model back in 1981 and culminated in a production hydrofoil triamaran manufactured by Hobie Cat Co. in Oceanside CA. This site describes the boat and the history of the project.
This project began with the desire to break the world speed record for sailboats. In the process we, mainly my brother Dan and myself, built 5 prototypes for the purpose of breaking the world speed record (TF20, TF2, TF3 Longshot I and II) and 4 production prototypes (Avocet 1, 2 & 3, TFP). Longshot, owned and sailed by Russell Long, set a record of 43.55 knots in 1993 in Tarrifa Spain which still stands.
