The mega yacht market is no longer a group of micro-markets, but a single worldwide entity where an international presence is invaluable in providing customer service and thus customer satisfaction.
Upon recognizing this, GMT, the largest teak deck supplier and second largest paintworks supplier in Europe, made the move to expand into the N. American market and thus GMT Americas (GMTA) was born. GMTA is able to supply teak decking or paintworks, but it is in providing both services together that GMTA can really make a positive difference. When two independent contractors are working in the same area, as do the painters and deckers, typically there are delays and extras charged to the Shipyard and/or Owner due to one contractor stating the other contractor is affecting their work or work environment. Then, unfailingly, the other contractor claims the same thing. Ultimately, it is the Shipyard and/or Owner who pays the price in schedule delays, cost over-runs, etc. In making GMTA your sole exterior contractor, those problems disappear. There will never be any extras charged to the shipyard due to scheduling conflicts, because conflicts simply can't happen.
