Max has got his harness on, his flashing
safety collar is flashing away, and he is ready to go!

Down the driveway

Make a hard right, and head out into the
street.

Lets go into this turn off. Don't trip on
the curb!

and down the trail

On your left is the back of a
horse stable.
This is where Max's friend Delight lives.
Delight is beautiful Tennessee Walking horse.
She wants an apple!
The people who live here raise,
train, and show, Tennessee Walking horses. They keep
four to six of them here,
including Delight's Dad Friday,
a gorgeous stallion.
Lets keep
going down the trail,

and onto the street, where we find the million
dollar horse corral! Ever see a million dollar hoarse corral?
These vacant lots have been here for
over forty years.
This view was listed in the old television show, Lifestyles
of the Rich and Famous, as one of the ten best views in the world! You can
see the Pacific and the Channel islands in the horizon. The lots have always
been offered at a price that was too high for the market. Last year the owner
died and the lots sold in probate. They ended up selling in excess of a million
dollars each. The people who live at the end of the lots raise the
Tennessee Walking horses. They bought the lot next to their house to use as a
corral. I kid the owner
about it, and call it the million dollar horse corral!
As we head up the road it was right here,
one Saturday afternoon, in June
of 2000, that Max and I met James Bond. We were on our walk, when an immaculately restored, mid 1940's,
red Mercedes coupe, drove into the cul-de-sac, and turned around. I called Max
over to my side and had him sit down. The car drove up beside us, and James Bond
(Pierce Bronson) looked out from the drivers seat, and asked for
directions! To where? He wanted to go exactly where we are going!
Every sunset, you will see cars lining up at the cliffs
edge, to watch the sun sink into the Pacific. You can see them starting to line
up in the distance. Lets go to the cliff and take
a look.

Max wants to get going so lets get back on the road.

As we head up the street, the back gates
to the Hope Ranch residential community appear.

Hope Ranch is a wealthy, private,
residential community, with a private beach, it's own police, and a golf
course with country club. It is crisscrossed with horse trails. You may remember
when Paul McCartney's wife Linda died, there was a lot of speculation that she
was in Hope Ranch, where she
loved
to ride the horse trails. We are going to be walking on those trails pretty
soon.
But right now, we are about to go on the
Costal Scenic highway for a couple of blocks.
So please be careful!
