APS asks for 20% rate hike Arizona Public Service is seeking
to raise electricity rates 20 percent to pay for soaring energy costs,
power plants and distribution lines needed to keep pace with the
Valley's rapid growth.

Energy pinch looms Phoenix added more
people, and more air conditioners, than any other city in the country
last year, with 29,826 new residents, according to the U.S. Census
Bureau. As a result, on a typical 100-degree-plus summer day, Phoenix
and surrounding cities use more electricity than Manhattan does.
UniSource Energy Reports Third Quarter Earnings for 2005
UniSource Energy Corp. (NYSE: UNS) today reported earnings for
the third quarter of 2005 of $18.4 million, or $0.53 per basic share of
common stock. For the same period in 2004, UniSource Energy reported
earnings of $23.8 million, or $0.69 per share.
TEP Expands Local Solar Power Network with New 60-kw System
Tucson Electric Power Co. (TEP) has helped expand Tucson's solar
generating capacity with a new 60-kw photovoltaic system in the heart of
downtown.

APS Seeks Retail Rate Increase Impacted largely by
skyrocketing prices for natural gas and purchased power, as well as
other fuel cost increases, Arizona Public Service (APS) announced plans
today to request a 20 percent, or $409 million, overall rate increase
for its retail customers to become effective no later than December 31,
2006. About 60 percent of the total request is due to the higher cost of
fuel and purchased power.
A lump of coal The Mohave Generating Station may be on the verge of
shutting down, creating economic hardships for the Navajo and Hopi
tribes as well as putting a dent in the Bullhead City economy. But
Arizona Corporation Commissioner Marc Spitzer isn't shedding any tears.
Rate settlement pulls down Pinnacle West's 3Q earnings
Pinnacle West Capital Corp. Thursday announced a slight profit decline
in third-quarter profit, due to a rate settlement.
State
regulators want answers about Palo Verde outages
The Arizona
Corporation Commission has set a hearing for December to hear from A-P-S
on its operations at Palo Verde. A series of outages this year,
including a week-long shut-down earlier this month, have cost an
estimated 40 (m) million dollars in power replacement costs and strained
the region's power grid. Customers will be asked to pick up most of the
tab.

full power early Monday morning.
