An Excel add-in software package provides custom radar functions and equations that can be used for calculating many of the parameters discussed in the text. These can be used for radar analysis in Excel worksheets, or form the basis for program modules.
The book is intended for system analysts engaged in analysis of systems that include radars; modelers and programmers involved simulating the performance of radars in systems; and radar system analysts, designers, and engineers. It provides basic understanding of radar, but does not involve details of interest only to radar designers. No advanced math or specialized engineering knowledge is required.
The First Edition has been updated and expanded in this Second Edition. It functions both as a text for learning radar systems performance analysis and mmodeling, and as a reference for engineers and modelers working in the field. Features in this Second Edition include:
- Expanded discussion of radar system design, operation, and performance issues
- New material on airborne and space-based radar, and on radar tracking techniques
- Comprehensive examples illustrating the analysis and modeling techniques
- Practice problems on each radar topic, with detailed solutions provided
- A self-administered test to evaluate mastery of the material, with answers provided
- Selected bibliography to performance-modeling data sources, and to material for further study
- Updated VBA modules for calculating radar performance parameters in Excel worksheets
