Radar System Performance Modeling Self-Study Course

This course on radar systems and their analysis and modeling provides and explains equations, computational methods and data for evaluating radar performance at the system level.

The course is intended for:

· Systems analysts involved with systems that include radar and modelers.
· Programmers involved in simulating the performance of radar in systems.
· Engineers addressing radar system issues.

No advanced math or specialized engineering expertise is required. Only a general engineering or math background is needed.

The course is intended to be taken by individuals on a self-study basis.  On completion of the course, students take a final exam, which is graded, and a Certificate of Achievement is awarded.

The course is based on the book, "Radar System Performance Modelingm Second Edition,"
, by G. Richard Curry, recently published by Artech House, Inc. The book, which includes custom radar Visual BASIC for Applications (VBA) software functions for radar modeling in Excel spreadsheets, is the textbook for the course.

The course consists of 11 lessons, each containing:

· Statement of learning objectives.
· Reading assignment in textbook.
· Detailed discussion of the lesson material.
· Reference for additional reading.
· Practice problems.
· Self test problems.
· Detailed solutions to the practice and self-test problems.

The course addresses the following radar topics:

  • Introduction to radar modeling.

  • Radar analysis parameters.

  • Radar waveforms.

  • The radar equation.

  • Radar detection.

  • Radar search.

  • Radar measurement and tracking.

  • Radar environment and mitigation techniques.

  • Radar countermeasures and counter-countermeasures.

  • Radar performance modeling techniques and examples.

  • Using the custom radar functions for analysis in Excel (optional lesson).]

The course is offered to individuals at a cost of $145, which includes the course lesson book, email consulting, final exam, and Certificate of Achievement.  Students will also need access to the textbook, "Radar System Performance Modeling, Second Edition"
, by G. Richard Curry.  Group discounts are available.
