Ground
Water Simulator (GWS) is an integrated modeling environment for ground water flow, particle
tracking, and mass transport simulation and developed by
Artesian Software.
(a) Ground water flow simulation.
U. S. Geological survey (USGS) ground water modeling software, Modflow 2000, has been incorporated in GWS.
(b) Particle tracking.
U.S. Geological Survey particle tracking code, ModPath 4.3, has been implemented in GWS.
(c) Mass transport simulation.
MT3DMS is a 3-D multispecies contaminant fate and transport model developed at the University of Alabama for the US Army Corps of Engineers Research and Development Center.
Above three public domain programs are the simulation engines under GWS hood. GWS simplifies the input and output for these software. Compared with other software, GWS provides numerous examples setting up ground water simulation problems.
Ground Water Simulator can be downloaded with or without purchasing a license. Users are permitted to learn the program with a student version. The student version is limited to a moderate grid size (max no of rows =20, max no of column =20, and max no of layers =5). The following link provide more information about Ground Water Simulator.
