The Extended Trot

Later that day, the female pup was bring the sheep back to me on her own.

The extended trot is faster than the normal trot but with the same efficiency and smoothness.

Lesser built dogs have to switch to the less efficient and choppier gallop to reach the same speed.

More efficient means less energy is needed.  A trot is an endurance gait.

A choppier gait is more disturbing to the stock.

The Run

runaway stock.
