The TYCOPRO 2 Chassis (1974)

The TYCOPRO 2 Chassis (1974)

The TYCOPRO 2 Chassis was essentially the same as the TYCOPRO variety 4 chassis but with a total redesign of the electrical pickup assembly. This was a serious shortcoming of the TYCOPRO chassis & highly welcomed. Two small spring loaded "buttons" were implemented which did not need constant readjustment & they lasted much longer than the thin foil pickups used on the original design. They also changed the width of the front tires to a more reasonable looking "normal" tire probably for realism/accuracy reasons rather than performance, but the front axle track is still wider than the rear as in the original. TYCO also made a longer wheelbase version of the TYCOPRO 2 chassis which identical except the front wheel mounts were longer & extended forward. The TYCOPRO 2 was better than the original, but by this time Aurora had already launched it's AFX chassis & the release of the AFX Magnatraction in 1975 spelled doom for the old "pan" type TYCOPRO 2 chassis.
