FINAL THOUGHTS

The most important thing to me, is to feel I'M in control and to know I can keep the RLS from taking over.

RLS, itself, is not fatal. "It TOO shall pass."

I have to really believe in what I do, or it doesn't help.

I have to catch it when it starts...either changing the scene, concentrating on something, or getting to sleep FAST!!!!

None of this is magic. It probably can be defined as "cognitive therapy".....thinking and knowing more about what you are experiencing, and coming up with ways to change your reaction to that experience.

I haven't heard anything in the email support group about anyone trying professional psychological therapy for this. We are so afraid of someone saying, "It's in your head."
I say, "YES! It IS in my head. Now what can I do about getting it OUT of my head?"

Besides, even if it doesn't START mentally, that's where I respond to it, so....I'll work on my response. I can't guarantee I'll never need medications. But for now, I know I'm doing better with it than I have in 45 years.

Best wishes to you, for a restful sleep, always. If you have any discoveries, as a result of the suggestions on these pages, please share them with me. If you have an suggestions you think I might want to try, share those, too. I learn from everyone and share with many.

MORE IDEAS!!!! In the years since I first developed this website,I've added several more pages, with information I continue to gather and ideas I continue to develop. To see those pages, click on the MAIN button, below. Go to the bottom of that first page to where it says, "MORE IDEAS!!!" Click on each link, separately. They are NOT in sequence like these first pages have been.

And if you would like to try my new (in 2001) "RLS Rebel Program", go back to the main page, and click on the link at the top of the page. You will find an organized strategic approach to follow in your attempts to reduce RLS symptoms and minimize the severity of the attacks.
