~ ~THYROID CANCER SURVIVOR TIPS~ ~
Disclaimer: The following links are provided for informational purposes only. They are not intended to be medical advice or a substitute for what your doctor prescribes or recommends. These are tips and information I've collected as a mother of a 21 year old thyroid cancer survivor (diagnosed 9/2000). The information has been gathered primarily from my correspondence as a member of an on-line email support group for thyca survivors. For more information on this group and thyroid cancer in general, go to the Thyroid Cancer Survivor's Association website.
THYROID CANCER: A road block? A detour? Or, just a slow zone?
Should you stop everything, and expect thyca to totally interrupt your life, work, or school?
Or, do you just make some adjustments, cancel a few things and postpone some events?
Or, do you just go slow and easy, and allow for flexibility?
These pages apply to handling work schedules, school, and dealing with thyca problems, in general, even though they focused on support for staying in school. It should be easy to make the correlations and apply them to staying at your job, or keeping up with other responsibilities. For instance, the section on "Communicating with Professors", could just as easily apply to communicating with bosses, peer workers, or family members.
Click on the title, above, and you'll find, among other things, 1) Variables to consider, 2) Scheduling concerns, and 3) How to support a loved one with thyca.
