~ ~THYROID CANCER and SCHOOL~ ~

BE REALISTIC, FAIR, and FLEXIBLE

I hope I've presented a very positive, but realistic experience. Julie stuck with her school schedule and will graduate on time. She only had to drop, and re-take one class, which required class attendance. Her track goals changed a little, from trying to break school and conference records, to trying to break her own records. Her grades dropped a little, but not much. It CAN be done, if you're willing to make the adjustments and allowances.

I hope these pages serve as an inspiration to you, to at least try to stick with school, despite your thyca struggles.

BUT....remember the first section, "CONSIDER THE VARIABLES". Your variables may be different. Your struggles may be greater. Do NOT beat yourself up if you find you need to drop out of school for a while.

Re-evaluate your program and be willing to make changes, if things don't go as well as you expected. Julie and I often discussed the "what if" scenarios. She knew what classes and activities could be dropped, if things got too tough to handle. Each person has to determine his/her own best program.

Be a success, even if it means successfully postponing classes and concentrating on your health.

BE KIND to YOURSELF
and
BE WELL!!
