WE DO!

Yulee Railroad Days, Florida’s first linear event, is a celebration honoring Senator David Levy Yulee and the railroad he built 150 years ago. This celebration is a chain of special events stretching 155 miles from the east coast of Florida to the west coast.

Yulee Railroad Days began in Archer, Florida, 12 years ago. This 2008 year, it will be celebrated Friday, May 30 - Saturday, June 7. It has become a cross-state celebration. All-day festivals happen in Archer, Melrose and Callahan. Model trains circle inside the Matheson Museum in Gainesville. There is a vibrant remembrance of the slaves who built the railroad at the Cotton Club in Gainesville. Lake cruises are in Melrose, more trains in Hawthorne and a plateful of history in Micanopy. Everyone will want to see the period locomotive at the Archer Railroad Museum and feel the Civil War Cannon’s blast.

Yulee Railroad Days is sponsored by the Archer Historical Society and Railroad Museum. We appreciate your help in publicizing this event and putting it on your events calendar.

The schedule of events is attached.

Sincerely,

Phil Denton: Chairman
