Caring for your real
Christmas Tree
-
The single most important thing that can be done to take care of your
Christmas Tree is to keep it in a stand that holds water. Check the water
level daily and more frequently the first several days.
-
The trunk of a cut tree that is not kept watered begins to seal over
as the tree sap hardens and does not absorb water, even when water is added
to the stand. A tree stand that holds a large quantity of water is less likely
to run dry during long weekends away from home or during times of
inattention.
-
If the tree has been cut down for more than several hours it is very
important to make a fresh cut on the tree trunk before placing the tree in
a stand . Cut about one inch off the trunk before placing the tree in a stand
with water.
