  • Learn more about the community through guest speakers at weekly club meetings

MEMBERSHIP:

Our members come all walks of life, all generations, all religions, and philosophies, but are united in a common dedication to community service, and desire for fellowship.
$30.00 covers all costs involved in initiation. This fee covers International as well as District processing fees.
$12.00 paid either monthly or in advance, will cover all local club dues, as well as future dues paid to International and the local District. Weekly meals are nine dollars, and are collected on a pay-as-you-eat basis.
Indiscretions (i.e., newspaper articles without publishing one's affiliation with Kiwanis, flaunting one's wealth with large purchases, telling lengthy stories in meetings, etc.) are all subject to fines. Happy/Sad events are celebrated with donations to club projects.

INTRODUCTION OF NEW MEMBERS:

A ceremony during a luncheon meeting, is used to induct new members. A Kiwanis pin, a badge, a builders apron and a membership packet is awarded the new member. The new member is given a few weeks to prepare a short (very short) introductory speech.

WHAT THE KIWANIS CLUB OF SAN CLEMENTE EXPECTS OF THE MEMBERSHIP:

  • Attendance at weekly meetings
  • Participation in club fundraising and service projects
  • Lending your special talents wherever needed
  • Bringing new ideas, or speakers who may identify areas of concern
  • The realization that each of us are ever searching for new members
  • To foster recognition of contributions from various members

COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS:

All members can be expected to be assigned to one.
  • PROGRAMS:

This all-important committee continually seeks out community leaders willing and able to share their thoughts with and inform our members on topics of concern for all our community. Each member is responsible for contacting the speaker and arranging a speaking date for them, while coordinating with the chairperson.
  • MEMBERSHIP:

The functions of this committee involve all the members of the club. The chair person will coordinate with each member to determine if there are any members of the community who would like to become a prospective member of our club. The chairperson will use all club resources to accomplish this end.
  • COMMUNITY SERVICES:

This committee will coordinate with other community organizations to determine what needs there are, if any, for the community as a whole. The chairperson will make reports to the Board of Directors and note any recommendations by the committee as to how community funds should be allocated.
  • SPONSORED YOUTH:

This committee will monitor, and, if necessary, assist in the activities of the various youth organizations which are directly sponsored by Kiwanis International, (i.e. the Key Club, Builder's Club) and for which local clubs have responsibility. The chairperson will also report to the Board of Directors and make recommendations as their individual needs.
  • YOUTH SERVICES:

This committee addresses the needs of the youth of the community as a whole, and makes recommendations to the Board. A good example of this is our High School College Scholarships, which are allocated on the basis of need and academic achievement, and not necessarily membership in a sponsored youth organization.
  • FUNDRAISING:

This committee assesses the effectiveness of all the fundraising activities of the club and makes recommendations to the Board as to how they might be improved.
  • YOUNG CHILDREN: PRIORITY ONE:

This is a committee required by Kiwanis International to access the needs of the community in terms of it's Child Safety and Pediatric Trauma program.
