Was relieved of WWII duty because of his position with PTC. Letters from WWII period on file about this. Got divoced in approx 1946 and then remarried Georgia Moffit late in life. She was widow of his friend. Died of liver cirrhosis. He took care of his parents when they became ill and lived in their home, 1705 Nedro Ave, Phila. PA, until he married Georgia Moffit. Collected coins.

John Henry James Hardiman incorporated the Hardiman Carpet Co., but during the depression he sold out to Hardwick and McGee. They needed to do this because the building where the carpet manufacturing took place was sold and they needed to get all the equipment out. Apparently, things weren't going too well, and it would have been expensive to move the equipment, so they sold out to
Hardwick and McGee. John Henry James was involved in development of a special loom that could weave a much wider carpet than was being manufactured at the time, perhaps 7 feet wide. Sister, Kedron Hardiman, and William Ashmore were witnesses for their marraige. Death certificate lists him as retired carpet manufacturer. Many pictures in file, also business card. Baptized at St. George's Church. Social Security application lists fathers name and mother's maiden name and is in file. Lists employer as Hardiman Carpet Co. Inc., 2610 N. Hancock St., Phila, PA. J. H. James was listed at 705 Indiana Ave in the 1920 census, listed as being naturalized.

He lived for a long time with Kedron on weekends and stayed with his daughter Lois and her husband during the week where he worked in a carpet mill. Buried in section U at Oakland cemetery in northeast Philadelphia behind Friend's Hosptial. Mary E. Hardiman met him and said he died when she was in her 20's (about 1930), and that he may have been remarried, his first wife died long before she met him. Lilly (Leah), Walter Sr.'s daughter, lived with Mary Elizabeth about 3 years. Tombstone lists year of birth as 1850, but census info and birth certificate indicate birth in 1852. Marriage record lists him as 21 years old in 1871, but he was actually 19. Norristown PA directory shows him living at 319 E. Penn 1888-90, Dekalb below Washington 1890-91. Death certificate in file. He apparantly had a summer home in the Roseville section of Atco at one time as well.

Death certificate gives fathers name as John and mothers name as Ann Bimbroock. Says died of heart disease. Address was 3056 N. Reese St, 43rd ward. Tombstone lists year of birth as 1850. She was living in Farfields, Kidderminster at time of marriage. There is mention of a bible received by Elizabeth Burgham from the Hoobrook Sunday School in 1861, where there are several births listed and the marriage of Walter William Hardiman and Elizabeth Burgham recorded as being 26 Aug 1871. Walter William born 6 Dec 1871, died 2 July 1966, Lois Eliza b. 27 Jun 1874, Beatrice Anne 27 June 1874 to 4 Sep 1874, John Henry James b. 19 Oct 1876, Kedron Ann b. 27 Sep 1878. Apparently Elizabeth Burgham was 6 mo pregnant when got married. She came to America from Liverpool abord "The City of Berlin" arriving Oct 9, 1886, with all 7 children. Walter arrived in May, 1886.

I have not been able to locate a christening for John. John lists birthplace as Harvington, father was married first in Chaddesley Corbit, Henry was christened in Chaddesley Corbit.

Lived in Kidderminster in St George's fields on Walter's marriage record (1871), and on Alfred's christening record (1869). Lived in the South Ward of Kidderminster on Constitution Hill in 1861 census. Visiting George Watley and Hanna on 1851 census, had no children at that time, but were married. Married Mary Ann Cox on 8 Sep 1850 by a Unitarian Minister, Mary Ann's father listed as Edward. Birth certificate of Walter in file says they were living on Duke Street at time of Walter's Birth in 1852, and that is where Walter's was born. In 1891 census, were living in Arlington Villa, Foley Park, in a three room house with 6 occupants, Henry listed as carpet weaver. Death registration says he died of heart failure, due to shock from a fall, "accidental death", certified from H. Hebbert, deputy coroner for North Worcestershire, inquest held 18 July 1904.
