| Langley Karate Club was started by Sensei Tak Fung in March, 1976. The club applied for and was granted affiliation with the LaRC Activities Association the same year. Sensei Tak completed his post-doctoral fellowship in December of 1977 and moved out of the area. A senior class continued to provide classes after his departure. Roy Albang was selected head instructor in January 1979. Due to activities building renovations and scheduling conflicts, the club worked out at various locations on and off LaRC until the Gymnasium was completed. Currently, in addition to Sensei Roy, the club has promoted 13 students to blackbelt, including one student to Nidan, and ten to Shodan. In March of 2006 we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the founding of our dojo. |
