REGIONAL SEMINAR

installation, people will need to submit their names in advance. Please contact
Jim Thieman and/or Keith Walyus or Chris Court. If you are not a U.S.
Citizen it is imperative that you contact Jim and/or Keith for additional
details. They will need to start the process as soon as possible, so
please do not hesitate.
The seminar will break down into the
following training components:
1 hr - Chi Gung for Health
1 hr -
Chi Gung for Explosive Power
2 hrs - Linking
Throws/Takedowns Shihan Duke Swain will be taking throws from our
curriculum and providing alternatives when your first attempt does not
work...and you immediately need to transition to another throw. (i.e. chain
grappling). We spend alot of time training throws in isolation, but we
need to apply the same principles of combinations to our grappling.
NEW STUDENTS
SEPTEMBER 2009
Langley Karate Club (LKC) will begin offering
beginning martial arts classes starting September 14, 2009. Classes are
open to Civil Service, Contractors, Retirees and their immediate families.
New students will be accepted from September14 through October 7.
LKC instruction is available year round for students from beginner through
degrees of black belt. Classes are open to children 8 years and older as
well as adults. The club meets Mondays & Wednesdays in the gym,
beginners’ class is one hour from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. and new students are welcome
to continue working out with the higher degreed students, from 5:00 - 7:00

Event Description:
(Optional) Friday includes a tour bus ride to NASA Langley Research Center
(LaRC) facilities and The Virginia Air & Space Museum; followed by a short
workout and then dinner with the Grandmaster. Detailed
information about the tour, workout, dinner and times can be found at
tour .
Saturday
is test and seminar day. Testing will be
provided at all children ranks, and at all adult ranks up to and including Black
Belt and Shodan. Prior to lunch will be Black Belt demos and then awards
presentations. Lunch will be catered to the dojo, and will last one hour
(the menu will sustain carnivores and vegetarians). Following lunch is seminar
time, led by Grandmaster Quynh. Demonstrations presented by Karateka at any rank
will follow the seminars, and the day will end with Grandmaster Quynh’s words of
wisdom, and bow out. Detailed information with times can be found at
