Restrictions of Eating the
Passover

Sh’mot 12:43-49
43HASHEM
said to Moses and Aaron, This is the decree of the
Pesach-offering: no alienated person may eat from it. 44Every slave of a man, who was bought for money, you shall circumcise him;
the he may eat of it. 45A sojourner and a hired
laborer may not eat it. 46In one house shall
it be eaten; you shall not remove any of the meat from the house to the outside, and you
shall not break a bone in it. 47The entire
assembly of Israel shall perform it. 48When a
proselyte sojourns among you he shall make the Pesach-offering for
HASHEM, each of his males
shall be circumcised, and then he may draw near to perform it and he shall be like the
native of the land; no uncircumcised male may eat of it. 49One law shall there be for the native and the proselyte who lives among
you. |
However, none that are uncircumcised are to eat of it. No
one who has not separated himself unto
HASHEM
was to be a part of this. Only those who had the sign of the covenant could be a part of
this celebration. No foreigner outside the camp of Israel was to partake of it. Only those
who have the sign of the covenant and wish to be part of Eloheim's plan.
No foreigner was to partake of it. The alien and the
sojourner were invited, but let him be circumcised (v48). It was Eloheim's plan from the
very beginning that the Passover was to include the alien and the sojourner. It was Eloheim's
plan that the Gentiles participate in the Passover. The only requirement was Let them be circumcised to
HASHEM.
Let them turn to
HASHEM and repent from other
things. They were to be treated as guests and equal to the house of Israel (v 49) so that
they might partake of the lamb as well and come in and be under the covering of the lamb. Eloheim
was setting up the standard of redemption for the whole world. This was to be the method
of redeeming all men unto Eloheim so that all the families of the earth
might be blessed under the seed of Abraham. The key was that you had to have a visible
sign to serve and honor
HASHEM.
