Golf - After years of hacking around golf courses throughout the world, I finally have enough time to play golf on a regular basis (once or twice a week). Even during the winter there is at least one day each week that is warm enough to allow a round of golf (albeit with thermal underwear and sweaters and coats sometimes). I have cut 12 strokes off of my handicap, but the score is less important than just getting to play. What's that saying?? "A bad day on the golf course is better than a good day doing honey-dos" Now three of my sons have taken up the game, and we have some very competitive matches every other week or so, and it makes for some lively conversation in between.
Computers - After sitting in front of a computer almost every day for years and years, I find that I can't get along without one at home. Besides the obvious need to exchange e-mail with friends and family, I find the internet to be the most fascinating place imaginable. With my cable modem connection which provides an extremely high speed, I spend an hour or so many evenings surfing the net, checking the sports scores, researching some other topic of interest, downloading digital music files (of which I have over 1800 MP3 files), or updating this web site. While this web site is probably of no interest to anyone but me, I have had a lot of fun publishing it. I have always thought that I could make some money with the computer at home, but so far I have not been able to think of a way to do that. Like many of us, I dream of writing a book, and I admire/envy Pete Azzole and Igor for having done it.
Water Garden - It all started with a $100.00 plastic pond kit at Sam's Club. In less than a half a day, and a little shovel work, the pond was installed in the ground, filled with water, and the fountain was bubbling up in the shape of your choice. Some rocks from a nearby road building project (obtained with the help of a Son who works for the road building company) completed the landscaping portion, and some plants from the garden center down the street turned it into a water garden. Fish were added later and this project has turned into a full blown eco-system, replete with frogs and other sundry life forms. I found that I am not alone. There are many people around the country that enjoy this hobby. Check out these "ponders" web sites.
Darts - After having almost forgotten about the many hours of dart competition I participated in at various clubs around the Navy, I found my old dart board last fall and hung it on the wall. I have interested two of my Son's in it and we now have a regular dart rivalry going.

Digital Photography - With the acquisition of my Hewlett Packard digital camera at Christmas, I have launched a new hobby, digital photography. My first efforts have just been irritating the family by constantly causing the flash to go off in their face. Since they are protesting so loudly, I plan to branch out into photographing other subjects, hopefully ones that won't complain when you take their picture again (and again). Look for some of those photographs in my Photo Gallery.
Atlanta Braves - Ah yes, the Braves. My obsession. I try and try to not turn on the Braves game every day during the summer, but continually fail. Even when they are not on TV I am guilty of tuning in the Braves Network on the radio. Propagation conditions after dark (some of you guys know about that) allow me to pick up WSB Atlanta (AM 750) from my home some 5oo or 600 miles away Am I a slave to baseball? I suppose so, but I don't think I am by myself in this world. GO BRAVES!!
