Hey Ram was directed by well acclaimed Indian actor Kamalahassan. In this debut movie for direction he pushed the technical excellence to a new outreach that was unknown for Indian movie makers. The first Indian movie ever hired a Symphony Orchestra for the Background Score, dialogues and sounds were recorded live instead of post-synchronization(Dubbing), flamboyant tonal theme in cinematography are some of the special qualities of this movie.
