ORB-23

Post Flight & Pic's

ORB-23 was launched at approx. 0757 CDT. The ascent was a little slower than predicted. With very light winds the chase team was able to stay ahead of the flight and make several stops along the way to get snacks, work several stations on the Parrot Repeater and generally just hang out, all while visually keeping an eye on the balloon. Burst occured around 98,000 feet and descent was as predicted. The highest altitude reported was 97,257 feet. The flight descended right across Cushing airport while Sky Divers were also descending. ORB-23 landed 200 feet from the hangers and just off airport property.

Here are the landing coord's... 35.953 -96.777167

After recovery some of the chase team went to the car show in Bristow for lunch.

Thanks to all who participated!

I would like to thank the Northwest Technical Institute, N5NTI Amateur Radio Club members, Billy (N5QEM) and his wife Phylis and Mark (N5OTD) and his wife Carol for participating in this flight. You will be seeing N5NTI flights in the near future.

I would also like to thank Matt (KE5DUA) the Sky Diver.
He is thinking of using APRS when he jumps.
