ORB-24

Post Flight & Pic's

ORB-24 was launched at 0741 CDT from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri.
It ascended at 1300 fpm to an altitude of 41,552 ft at which time no more position reports were heard. Direction finding was used to determine landing to our NW at around 0900. With the help of some of the EOSS T&R team, the payload was found in a tree at around 1130. It was recovered around noon.

The APRS on ORB-24 failed on ascent. The last altitude reported was 41,552 ft. The batteries were still in good shape as is the radio and GPS. It seems the TinyTrack III failed. Further analysis shows that the PIC chip is no longer any good.
