The CW you hear is a TRB beacon. The TRB beacon was specifically designed as an ultra light-weight FM/CW beacon operating in the Amateur Radio 2-meter band on a frequency of 147.475 mhz. a simple disc capacitor (not included) across the xtal , will bring the freq down. With 20pf the freq is 147.440 and with 47pf the freq is 147.425. Output is approximatly 13 mw. * A valid Amateur Radio License is required! * The beacon weighs in at 9 grams without an antenna or power connector and the pcb is 1 1/8" x 2 1/4". A small package that is great for DF'g, Fox-Hunts, balloon payloads or as an RC airplane, or RC helicopter beacon. This beacon uses K1EL's K-ID PIC chip to generate CW messages. There are 7 CW messages which are selectable by SW1 on the K12. The K-ID is NOT included in the kit and is available from K1EL. http://k1el.tripod.com/kid.html After all parts are installed you need to connect a 9 volt DC power supply and an antenna. Battery life: About 30hrs based on a test using an Eveready 9v alkaline and transmitting a call sign with a 5 sec. pause. The kit is straight forward and the only tools and supplies that are required are a 25w (or less) soldering iron (fine tip), solder, magnifier, tweezers, soldering experience and patience. There is one 8-pin SOIC to solder. The kit does not come with antenna or battery connector. I do not have the time to supply pre-assembled K12's at this time...Sorry! Documentation includes: General description, assembly instructions,
parts list, diagram of parts placement, pictures of the top and bottom of a completed
pcb, and K-ID order form. TEMORARILY OUT OF
