Candidates tend to run to the right of their actual spot on the political spectrum. I've listed 10 Arizona politicians whom over-caffeinated political junkies will immediately recognize as 4 very conservative Republicans and 6 moderates. In fact, if you were to line up the Republican caucus (and potential caucus members) left to right from most liberal to most conservative, most pundits would say that I picked the 6 at they left side of the line and the 4 at the right side. There are nearly 50 Republicans between them. All the quotes, however are conservative. You can't tell the candidates apart. Match the candidate to the campaign quote. For the answers, click here.
We need to change the tax code to be more friendly to businesses
Being a Republican means being a lover of freedom. We are the party of limited government, personal responsibility and fiscal conservatism. In state government, Republicans should be leading the charge for more efficiency in the delivery of services our citizens have deemed necessary from state government.
I would work to put out a budget that did not require tax increase, find solutions to permanent spending, work on responsible revenue forecast, give the legislature better control over revenue, and work to correct the unintended consequences of Proposition 204, fix Schools Facilities Board and the way we finance Capital projects (pay as you go).
I support a quality education for all the children of Arizona. Education is a service and I believe the record shows that competition in the service arena improves service while holding costs down. The taxpayers have shown over and over they are willing to finance education. Lets empower the parents to create a healthy competition for education services and get the highest possible level of educational services for the children of Arizona at the best possible cost to the taxpayers.
Having been a Republican for more than 40 years, it (being Republican) has meant advocating for responsible government, protecting individual rights and ensuring the maintenance of our freedoms.
I am a Republican because our ideals embody traditional family values, lower taxes and limited government.
(Legislative Summary) "Mainstream thinking rather than ideological power brokering took hold. Based on my conversations with people in my district, other than the ideological far right, the legislature's 'low esteem' rose dramatically."
As a lifelong Republican, my goal is to cut government spending that is not a priority and force government to work within the budget without raising taxes.
I will Defend traditional marriage and he family, fight to protect our unborn children, work for excellent educational opportunities and school choice, ensure public safety by supporting our police fire and emergency preparedness, promote economic development that will bring quality jobs, secure our borders and stop illegal immigration.
